Ready For A Spring Refresh?

It’s only the end of February but when it comes to the world of
interior design there’s already a buzz in the air for spring 2022! While it can
be tempting to do a complete home makeover, incorporating a few fresh changes
is a great place to start. Here are a few tips on how to start your spring in
style.
Bring In The Green
After a couple of years of spending much of our time indoors -
there are no surprises here. Whether the goal is to bring nature inside or to
simply freshen the home with natural hues, plants are becoming even more popular
as we head into 2022. Especially in early spring when the weather can still be
nippy outside, bringing in a little or a lot of greenery can provide warm
weather comfort and a visual connection to nature.
Tip: Pick plants that are
easy to maintain or go with a faux plant for a maintenance-free option.
Get Creative With Cabinets
If cabinets are the star of a kitchen, hardware is the unsung hero. Adding unique
accents to existing cabinets is a creative way to reinvigorate your home.
Eye-catching, decorative hardware that is modern, quirky or timeless can give
an otherwise plain surface, a fun lift. Don't worry about covering up holes,
you can install backplates behind your hardware to give it a polished look
while disguising wear from your cabinets’ past lives.
Tip: It doesn’t hurt to
be different, check out unique materials that are reclaimed or recycled and mix
and match the hardware.
Create A Fun Foyer
The home foyer is an often forgotten space that doesn’t get the love
it deserves. Yet, this is a room of importance because it’s usually the first
to be seen when people come to your doorstep and the gateway to the rest of your
home. To spruce things up, try incorporating items and furniture that bring
personality and function to your space. A statement mirror, an heirloom coat
rack or entryway table can create a styled but welcome vibe. For smaller spaces
quality furniture that offers multiple functions is ideal.
Tip: Focus on
statement pieces that serve both form and function.
The Kitchen Edit - Color, Texture and Warmth
In 2020 and into 2021 all-white kitchens soothed our senses, this
year it’s about bringing an organic warmth to our spaces. Think yellows, greens, orange-y reds, even darker jewel tones and moodier colours are becoming more
popular. You can also introduce warmer colour into your space through metal
hardware and plumbing fixtures, in bronze or varying stainless steel shades and
finishes. This trend is super versatile and you can really play around with it
throughout the rest of your home.
Tip: When using darker coloured
paint opt for a matte finish, the sheen in eggshell can even look too shiny on
darker tones.
Vintage Is Back, Big Time
Your grandparents mid-century modern table isn’t the only item
coming back in 2022. Vintage furniture is making a comeback as designers look toward
more sustainable options to decorate a home. Shopping from sustainable and
ethical retailers that provide higher quality products has many benefits. It
can allow us to keep our furniture longer (vintage pieces can offer superior
craftsmanship) which is beneficial financially and mindful of the environment.
Unique vintage items also allow you to curate a home that’s one of a kind and
expresses your personality instead of looking like everyone else’s, plus
shopping “pre-loved” can help your budget go much farther.
Tip: Try thrift
stores, flea markets, repurposed furniture stores (online or in-store) or local
resale sites like Goodwill, Craigslist, or Facebook Marketplace.
Sprucing up your square footage for the spring season ahead should
be a source of joy, so get creative and have fun! It’s your home to enjoy!
